San Diego Firefighters Tortured Far Worse Than Abu Ghraib Inmates

  We all remember the barking dogs scaring the alleged terrorist inmates at Abu Ghraib, the infamous Iraqi prison where the US Military kept enemy combatants.  American liberals were in an uproar about the inmates having to endure the barking dogs and loud music. 
 
Abu Ghraib was a walk in the park compared to what 4 firefighters, who had been accused of no wrong doing of any sort, were forced to endure by their lesbian firechief in San Diego.  The four firefighters, who were not homosexuals, were forced to march in San Diego's infamously boorish gay pride parade and endure hundreds of unwanted taunts and sexual advances.

The firefighters sued, and won, but their boss, unlike the military person in charge at Abu Ghraib, is still in charge.  Where is the uproar from liberal gourps?  Read the story.

AG Goddard To File Suit Against Planned Parenthood?

Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard said this week, " "I am committed to protecting Arizonans' right to make informed decisions about their medical care. I will aggressively pursue any company that deceives consumers and puts profit ahead of patient well-being."  See story.

Though this comment was in reference to a confusing birth control advertisement, I can't help but wonder if the AG will apply the same standard and pursue a case against Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest and most profitable abortion provider. Planned Parenthood has long been known for misleading women and withholding critical information regarding the status of their babies as well as the abortion affects on the women themselves.

Somehow I doubt that AG Goddard has the moral courage and political will to fight members of his own political party and make sure women make informed decisions regarding abortion.

Obama Criticizes Bush For Not Sending Enough Troops

After spending over two years criticizing President Bush on going to war, President Obama put 17,000 more American troops in harms way today, while chastising Bush for not doing it earlier.

It seems Obama can't implement policy without slamming Bush, and appearing hugely hypocritical.

FOX Sports Helps Fund Abortions

 "Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has been voted by the employees of FOX Sports as the official Fox Sports Supports charity during the 2009 NASCAR season."  Read website.

It's too bad that FOX Sports chooses to support The Komen Foundation, an organization that covertly funnels large amounts of funds raised to cure cancer to the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.  While many studies have shown a link between abortion and breast cancer, no study has shown a link between Planned Parenthood and cancer cures. 

There are some wonderful organizations out there that really do seek cures for breast cancer, without covertly funding abortion clinics.  I encourage all to let FOX Sports know your opinion about their choice of charities.

Obama Politicizes Census, Puts Accuracy in Jeopardy

President Obama said in his inaugural address that he planned to "restore science to its rightful place" in government. That's a worthy goal. But statisticians at the Commerce Department didn't think it would mean having the director of next year's Census report directly to the White House rather than to the Commerce secretary, as is customary. "There's only one reason to have that high level of White House involvement," a career professional at the Census Bureau tells me. "And it's called politics, not science."  Read story...

Enough Praise for Sullenberger

Seriously, this has gotten out of hand.  Captain C.B. Sully Sullenberger has been on every TV show and was just yesterday given the keys to the City of New York.  He was featured at the Super Bowl, will probably be on the Wheaties box, and is in negotiations to become the 5th Wiggle.

But let's look at this a little more objectively.  Captain Sullenberger is a highly skilled airline pilot who goes through many hours of training to learn how to fly a plane in the event of a catastrophe, such as the one that befell flight 1549 that landed in the Hudson.  It is his job to keep people safe.  And, at the risk of pointing out the extremely obvious that no one seems to recognize, HE SAVED HIS OWN LIFE TOO!

Is he a hero?  Yes he is, and he deserves praise for his calmness in the face of a crisis.  To me, however, he would deserve much more praise and honor if he had turned down the media appearances and acted more like a NYC firefighter after 911.  Those guys said, almost to a man, that they were just doing their jobs.  The fact is that they ran into a burning and crumbling building, risking their own lives to save others.  Sullenberger didn't jump onto a crashing plane to save it, but found himself in a do or die situation.  To me that's a little different.

So let's give the man his due, but realize that there are bigger heroes, particularly American Soldiers, firefighters and policemen that step into harms way each and everyday for our sakes, and who will never attend a Super Bowl or get keys to a city.  Those men and women are my heroes.

Phoenix Light Rail Covers Windows

I couldn't help but notice the huge advertisements on the side of the Light Rail in Phoenix the other day.  What I want to know is why they covered the windows, which is an obvious safety hazard for those inside, particularly women and children.   Having transparency in the windows allows outsiders to potentially see criminal behavior going on inside.

My guess is that the powers that be are content sacrificing safety and selling ads, so long as people can't see how few riders Light Rail has.

Stimulus Bans Religion at Colleges and Universities

Apparently part of the "stimulus" package has a provision that says that any funds used for colleges and universities cannot be used to renovate buildings where any religious gatherings are held.  In other words, if a College Union has once a semester non-denominational service in a room, that building is excluded from repairs.  It makes no difference if that building holds thousands of other meetings.

This is a clear swipe by the Democrats to continue the assault on religion in our nation.  And tragically, they use a government "stimulus" package to do it.  The Democrats know that schools will have no choice but to ban religion in favor of the funding.

My recommendation is that religious groups on campus hold meetings in the favorite places of professors and administrators, thus deeming those buildings excluded from government funding.  Only then will administrators fight on behalf of religious freedom.
